Darlene DeMille, 59-1/2, photographer, writer, dreamer... and Mom to Aaron and Jess.
My day begins with a trip to see the ever-inspiring sunrise, until recently with my black Lab, AJ, who passed away in August at the grand old age of 15 (that's 105 in dog years).
Been witness to the sunrise since 1998. I stay there until I know that I go around it. It doesn't go around me. This awesome sight feeds my soul as the infinite realm of possibility presented by each new day appears. On January 1, 2000, many others showed up with their cameras to honor the sunrise for the new Millennium. “Wish I’d thought of that!”

My own first photo

...began a quest on May 14, 2001,
to capture a photo of the sunrise
for each day of the year.

and accomplished that mission last November with 366 photos of visible sunrises, one for every day including February 29. Why? Fascination, obsession, complete and total awe for the infinite opportunities heralded by that moment when the sun rises. When the sun is hidden at sunrise due to weather conditions, I feel it is especially important to know that the sun is always there, merely veiled by the clouds.

Even in the pitch dark of the night the sun is still there.
We've just turned our backs on it.
Darlene DeMille...grew up in Chicago, one of the 4 D’s – Diane, Darlene, Donna and Debra DeMille- daughters of Eleanor and Gil DeMille, who posed for a famous Catholic holy picture.
“The Light of the World” by C. Bosseron Chambers in 1920 when he was four years old. I wrote a story about it titled “’The Light of the World and I – A Daughter Reminisces.” Both a framed antique "Light of the World" print and the short story are available for purchase by clicking Other Items.
Attended schools in Chicago completing formal education with an MBA from the University of Chicago and a substantially over-developed left brain.
Life’s second half is devoted to more creative pursuits, like singing with the Agape International Choir. A professional level dreamer, I not only record many of my dreams, I follow them. A few years ago a dream of a handsome actor told me I was to write a movie titled “How to Find Your Soul – Using a Dirty Mind.” After many screenwriting classes and much procrastination, it is written and I’ve moved to LA to manifest this dream...I am delighted to report that the sun rises here too.
